Kentucky REC Offering QPP Resources to Audiologists

Introducing the Kentucky Regional Extension Center!

I’m writing to introduce you and the members of the Kentucky Academy of Audiology to The Kentucky Regional Extension Center. This outreach is born of CMS’ recent decision (November 1, 2018) to include Qualified Audiologists in Year 3 of the Quality Payment Program as potentially Eligible Clinicians for 2019 and beyond.

If a provider is determined by CMS to be an Eligible Clinician (EC) based on number of patients and billing, they must participate in the program and will be subject to a payment adjustment of +/- 7% on the Medicare Part B fee schedule. ECs are required to track measures (some all year) and submit data in order to avoid the penalty and potentially qualify for a bonus on their Medicare Part B fee schedule.

Kentucky REC, a non-profit statewide outreach arm of UK Healthcare, is a grant-funded organization tasked by CMS with providing support to all Eligible Clinicians in the state of Kentucky as they participate in the Quality Payment Program.

Therefore, we are contacting you since audiologists have not previously been eligible. We want to let you know that we are offering our knowledge and expertise to help your members get the information they need to be successful in the QPP. We want to help you learn to manage this major change in how you provide care.

We offer many resources for your use, including the following:

QPP Year 3: Final Rule Overview Webinar

Upcoming Webinars
We usually host two free QPP webinars per month on pressing topics throughout the program year. After the event, we send out the recording to all registrants, whether or not they were able to attend live. You can find announcements about our upcoming webinars here.

QPP Resource Center Grant
Kentucky REC is the state partner for a grant from CMS, called the Quality Payment Program Resource Center™ which provides FREE help to eligible clinicians as they navigate participation in the CMS Quality Payment Program. This web-based portal is focused on supporting providers in small practices (15 or fewer Eligible Clinicians). Highlights of this self-directed resource center include a readiness assessment, project plan, an advisor from our office on call to answer questions, and access to MIPScast, a tool that allows you to forecast your potential score.

Enroll in the QPP Resource Center Grant Here: https://www.qppresourcecenter.org

You can check your clinician status for the Quality Payment Program here: https://qpp.cms.gov/participation-lookup. 2019 eligibility isn’t loaded yet, and will most likely be updated sometime between Feb 1st – April.

One of our Quality Improvement Advisors made a brief webinar to help provider practices navigate the Resource Center Portal: “Using the QPP Resource Center” Play recording (26 min)
